The Background:
A while back while listening to the Dennis Prager show, I heard of an
incident that involved a possibly... "slow" fellow doing a very shameful
act; throwing a religious text into the toilet. Actually, it happened
twice.
Now, you may or may not know the whole story, but to make
a long story short, the college wanted to charge him with something
like creating a nuisance, and the student muslims pushed for a hate
crime. In the end, the local police opted for a hate crime charge.
The Thesis of this Post :
This is a classic example of minority victimization overpowering
reason.
I wouldn't care if the group was white Christians pushing for a hate
crime, I would say the same thing. In fact (as you may imagine),
white Christians have had more than one opportunity to push for hate
crimes in the past and have not.
The Point:
If throwing the Koran in a toilet at a university is a hate crime, then
so is tearing up and defacing the bible and/or Book of Mormon at a
rock concert - something modern rock singers such as Nine Inch Nails
(just the name is offensive in this case) and Marilyn Manson have
done recently, and other rock stars have been doing since the 1970's.

In fact, they may even be worse, because they are doing this hateful
act for profit.
And yet it is allowed, despite the offensive "hateful" nature of the act.
Why? Because this is America.
One cannot help but notice the the ultimate irony of the situation. It
is my party, the Democrats, who are supporting this sort of behavior.
However, should it be Christians pushing for a hate crime, liberals
who are most certainly Dems before they are Republicans would be
leading the charge to shut up the "Bible Thumpers".
